Glass Blocks are typically 190 x 190 x 80 mm. 99% of all the blocks we supply conform to these dimensions.

Although dimensionally similar, the Pegasus range is designed to offer a more aesthetic appeal with more rounded curves, superior glass and the ability to achieve a 2 mm spacing between blocks. Pegasus also offers more colours and finishes.

Glass Blocks Direct Ltd do not recommend any installers, but any reputable builder should be able to undertake a glass block installation. Our website does have detailed instructions that can be downloaded.

If the job is internal then you can use the Block Lock or our Rods & Mortar system. Block Lock is ideal for anyone with even limited DIY experience, whereas Rods & Mortar does require some skill. You can use Block Lock in 99% of indoor works. Rods & Mortar should always be used on external features or where fire rating is required.

There are many areas where a Fire Rated block is required, especially where both integrity and Thermal Insulation are important. For regular jobs in the home, our Basic Range will provide you with a 60 minute fire barrier, and is usually sufficient, so it is worth checking with Building Control exactly what is required.

With the exception of our Brilly Range, New Colour Collection, Mendini Range and Mini Collection, all our Glass Blocks are suitable for use outdoors.

Whether you are going to use our Block Lock kit or Rods & Mortar, you can easily determine what you need using our online calculators:

The best way to finish an open ended Glass Block wall is using Linear Ends. The Linear Ends present a glass edged finish and really add a touch of class to the installation. Alternatively, you can use appropriate trim or slim style tiles which you can source from your local DIY store.

In our Pegasus ranges a number of blocks are available with a metallised finish around the joint. Using a special coating, and, in conjunction with a superior grade of glass, the metallised finish reflects more light through the block and gives a much brighter interior. Perfect for darker rooms that would benefit from more natural light.

Our energy saving blocks are a brand new design from SEVES. Utilising special grade glass and a double chamber filled with argon gas, these blocks meet all the requirements to be a truly ‘green’ product. Increased light transmission and better heat retention will ultimately save you money by reducing your energy bills.
