Thermal Insulation

Thermal Insulation
Energy saving glass blocks are part of the SEVES Technology Line.
Energy saving glass blocks have a double air chamber inside the glass blocks to ensure high levels of resistance to heat transmission. Patented by Seves, ENERGY SAVING glass blocks effectively reduces the thermal transmittance of the glass block up to 50%. This makes it possible to create architectural façades made entirely of glass blocks. This helps promote the conservation of energy and safeguard the environment.

Not only do energy saving blocks reduce heat loss, they also enhance natural light during daylight hours. Energy saving blocks reduce the need for artificial light, especially during short daylight months. They will also help reduce heating bills due to their superior thermal insulation.

Low emmission glass plate and pressured controlled argon gas are the key to these energy saving blocks. The glass plate is inserted between the glass block halves to interrupt the thermal bridge, while the argon gas is added to reduce the thermal transmission caused by convection.

The result is a classic glass block that can reach a thermal transmittance value of U=1.5 W/m² K.

**Please Note: Some Energy Saving Glass Blocks require a minimum order of 50 pcs but are supplied in packs of 10, give us a call or use our contact form if you are unsure and we would be happy to assist.**

Please note: When using the Rod & Mortar Kit Calculator - Thermally Insulated Mortar will automatically be selected. Vetromalta can also be used with Thermally insulated blocks but Thermally insulated mortar is advised.

It is always advisable to consider the exposure of the Glass Block Wall - The Mortar joints must be protected with a suitable grout for weather exposure, particularly in heavy rainfall areas. Vetromalta is generally considered to be sufficient for grouting externally - however, it may be advisable to source a specialist grouting product or joint protection to add an extra layer of protection to the mortar joints. Please see our installation information for the thermally insulated range here.
