Rods and Mortar Kit Calculator
Choosing your favoured glass block (or blocks) is only the half of it! Use our Kit Calculator to work out how much installation material is required for your specific build. Simply choose the block type, select the available spacer joint, enter a width and height – whether that be in blocks or millimetres – and let the calculator do the rest. Once happy with your measurements click on Add to Cart and the required materials will be carried over to the cart, making it easier to place an order.
The Rods and Mortar Kit Calculator is recommended for External openings, for an internal project, use our Block Lock Kit Calculator or Pegasus Block Lock Kit Calculator

GLASS BLOCK SELECTION:
REQUIRED ITEMS FOR KIT:
Silicone - White (280ml)
One tube of silicone is suitable for 3 linear meters of application.
2mm Spacers for Pegasus Glass Block Range (pack 25)
Plastic spacers that vary according to the size of the necessary joint, block thickness and the type of wall (linear or curved): placed between one block and another, they create evenly spaced joints, keeping the framework rod aligned and away from the glass blocks.
Thermal Rated Mortar (Grey)
A grey premixed mortar specially designed specifically for Energy Saving Blocks. Please note: Vetromalta can also be used with Thermally insulated blocks but Thermally insulated mortar is advised.
It is always adviseable to consider the exposure of the Glass Block Wall - The Mortar joints must be protected with a suitable grout for weather exposure, particularly in heavy rainfall areas. Vetromalta is generally considered to be sufficient for grouting externally - however, it may be adviseable to source a specialist grouting product or joint protection to add an extra layer of protection to the mortar joints.
Reinforcement Rod - 950mm long (Pack of 10)
Expansion Foam (10m)
Expansion strips can be either stapled or nailed along the two sides and head between anchors (no strip necessary on the cill). Expansion foam is only needed if wall is going into a four sided opening to allow for movement of the wall due to temperature change.
